Professor Matt Saltzman awarded Fulbright
SES Professor Matt Saltzman has won a Fulbright US Scholar Award to conduct research in South Korea in the 2023-2024 academic year. Saltzman will be hosted by Yonsei University and Professor Sanghoon Kwon and will collaborate with faculty at Seoul National University (Drs. Youngsook Huh, Jusun Woo, Min Sub Sim). Some of the world’s best preserved Early Paleozoic rocks occur in the Taebaek Mountains of South Korea, and the goal of the Fulbright project is to determine the causes of a prominent climate transition from an ice-free to an ice-covered world 450 million years ago. Fulbright Scholar Awards provide unique opportunities for faculty to live and conduct research with collaborators in other countries and play a key role in U.S. public diplomacy by establishing long-term relationships between people and nations.
