School of Earth Sciences Professor Ian Howat led a field trip for students and faculty to Kelly's Island and Marblehead, Ohio on 16 September 2023 to explore glacially formed features. The trip is one of a series being offered this fall through Professor Howat’s graduate seminar, ES8850: How Rock, Ice, and Water Shaped Ohio. Students observed 395-million-year-old limestone formations full of corals and reef organisms that had been scoured by ice during the last glacial maximum that ended 10,000 years ago. Drs. Andréa Grottoli (SES) and Bryan Mark (Geography) also participated in the trip.
