NASA and Google's Collaborative Venture: 'A Passage of Water' - An Interactive Dive into Global Freshwater Resources

In a pioneering partnership with Google Arts & Culture, NASA has collaborated with artist Yiyun Kang to create an extraordinary digital experience titled "A Passage of Water." This interactive project is an artistic interpretation of a vital scientific subject - the impact of climate change on Earth's water cycle.

The foundation of this immersive journey is the data from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellites, coupled with the latest high-resolution insights from the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission.

This collaboration combines art and science, offering a unique perspective on how our planet's water resources are evolving due to climate change. It is a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of our world and the critical importance of preserving our natural resources.

Alums Steve Coss and Sherry Zhu, graduate student Jack Dechow, and SES professors Douglas Alsdorf and Michael Durand are part of the NASA SWOT Science Team. Read more about their SWOT research and publication earlier this year. The group will participate in the AGU annual meeting this month.
