"Being a geology student taught me that if you work hard sometimes things work out. And if not, just keep going until they do."
Where has your degree taken you?
M.S. Cornell University; programmer at Memphis State University; Ph.D Indiana; Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Deployed seismometers in Central Asia and Middle East (and worked in Antarctica, but while at OSU). Was faculty at San Diego State University for twelve years. Now at LLNL. Still travel a fair amount.
How do you feel your experience, specifically as an SES/geology student at OSU, prepared you for your career or life in general?
Being a geology student taught me that if you work hard sometimes things work out. And if not, just keep going until they do.
What is your favorite memory as a student?
Field camp! And working with Ian Whillans. A great guy. He was the one who really started me on this path.
What advice do you have for current and future students?
Nah. Well, algae covered rocks can be slippery.
