As part of our highlight of SES adventures at sea, we follow undergraduate student Anastasiia Krysova on her voyage aboard the Langseth. She shares:

This summer I participated in an multichannel seismic cruise offshore the southeastern United States aboard R/V Marcus G. Langseth. We set sail on July 16 from Port Canaveral, FL, and returned to Charleston, SC on August 19, for a total of 35 days at sea. The expedition aimed to

image the deep layers of sediments and bedrock to study the opening of the Atlantic Ocean that happened approximately 190 million years ago. During the cruise, I had an amazing opportunity to practice processing and interpreting seismic, multibeam, and magnetic data, as well as participating in the science meetings where we discussed the acquired data and scientific literature relevant to the project
