Professor Howat's team produces stunning map of Antarctica

Earth Science Professor Ian Howat and collaborators have produced a new high resolution terrain map of Antarctica, called the Reference Elevation Model of Antarctica, or REMA. Previously, we knew more about the topography of Mars than our own icy continent of Antarctica. Thanks to Professor Howat's team, Antarctica's surface has now been mapped at higher resolution than any other continent on Earth. The map release has been covered in the New York Times and Gizmodo
