OSU School of Earth Sciences Professor Joachim Moortgat is the recipient of the Society of Petroleum Engineers' (SPE) Cedric K. Ferguson Medal. The award "recognizes significant contributions to the permanent technical literature of the profession by a member younger than 36."

Professor Moortgat is scheduled to be presented with the award in Amsterdam in late October.
