Homecoming Alumni Celebration
As part of the celebrations around University Homecoming, the School of Earth Sciences held a brunch on Saturday morning, October 7, in Orton Hall. Returning alumni had a great opportunity to meet with current and past faculty members, students, and members of the Alumni Advisory Board. A highlight of the event was the opportunity to view firsthand the great new changes that have come to pass in the Orton Geological Museum. Professor Babcock was there to show off the renovated museum store and to answer questions about plans for more updates.
As part of the formal program, Director Steven Lower presented a brief overview of what’s new in the School. Next was Terry Wilson, who provided a look back at this year’s Field Camp, added some photos of the classic field exercises, and highlighted teaching innovations. Loren Babcock concluded with a discussion of exciting new developments in the museum, celebrations planned for the 150th Anniversary, and new exhibits on the way.
Thanks to all who worked hard to organize the event, and those who braved the football-day traffic and parking to attend. Keep watching the newsletter for upcoming events.
