Graduate Melissa Wrzesien's snow study covered in Science News
Melissa Wrzesien (who recently defended her doctoral thesis) published a big result recently in Geophysical Research Letters. It turns out that our estimates of annual snow accumulation in the mountains of North America were too low by a lot! Her estimate comes in nearly 3 times larger than previous, and matches validation data far better. A recent OSU press release by Pam Frost Gorder about this work was picked up by several outlets, including Science and AGU’s GeoSpace.
