"Get involved with your local and professional geological societies and build your professional network! Volunteering is one of the most rewarding and instructive pursuits you can undertake at a student."

Where has your degree taken you?

OSU Field Camp gave me an excellent foundation in field geology. Even though I didn’t do field work for my graduate research, my Field Camp experience allowed me to assist undergrads at SMU with their field studies. I completed three internships while in graduate school: two with Nexen and one with Swift Energy. Following graduation in 2012, I began work as a geoscientist with Swift Energy in Houston where I assisted with the development of their Eagle Ford Shale asset. I moved to Noble Energy in October 2014 to work as a development geologist for the Marcellus Business Unit. After Noble divested the Marcellus properties, I transferred to my current role in the Texas Business Unit working as an operations geologist in the Permian Basin.

How do you feel your experience, specifically as an SES/geology student at OSU, prepared you for your career or life in general?

My Field Camp experience left me better prepared for the challenges of field work, both as a student and as a professional.

What is your favorite memory as a student?

Hanging out at Pollie's Brain Freeze in Ephraim!

What advice do you have for current and future students?

Get involved with your local and professional geological societies and build your professional network! Volunteering is one of the most rewarding and instructive pursuits you can undertake at a student. I’m eternally grateful to organizations like AAPG for helping me hone my leadership skills. Also, the importance of having fun cannot be understated! #YOLO
