8898 Seminar Colloquium in the Earth Sciences

Speaker: Professor Deanna Hence, Department of Atmospheric Sciences, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Seminar Title: Can you feel me? Multiscale interactions of tropical convection in the Indian Ocean

Two high-impact weather phenomena form regularly in the Indian Ocean: tropical cyclones (TCs), and the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO). Our research examines how convection evolves within the MJO during its passage, and how the presence of TCs in the basin may influence that evolution.
