EARTHSC 8898 Dr. Vincent Lecours - Multiscale geomorphometry for the understanding of marine ecosystems and geosystems
Speaker: Vincent Lecours - Université du Québec à Chicoutimi
Seminar Title: Multiscale geomorphometry for the understanding of marine ecosystems and geosystems
Abstract: Characterizing seafloor morphology benefits a range of marine applications and is often critical for understanding the spatial patterns of seafloor environments. In this seminar, I will show how geomorphometry – the quantitative characterization of the seafloor – can be used to delineate biogenic habitats and geomorphology in shallow and deep waters with various examples from the Gulf of Mexico. I will also discuss how challenging it can be to relate such patterns with biological and geological processes.
