Seminar Title: Catastrophe Risk in a Changing Climate
Abstract: Climate-influenced natural hazards like hurricanes, floods, and wildfires drive much of our society’s experience of climate change, but remain challenging to capture in traditional climate models. This talk will highlight the strengths and limitations of current model families for managing extreme events, discuss strategies for making decisions about risk that respect varying levels of uncertainty about extremes in the present climate, and highlight choices in our infrastructure and built environment that can enhance our ability to adapt to climate changes for decades to come.
