I am a broadly trained physical geographer and like to do field work with my students. Our Glacier Environmental Change research group within the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center focuses mostly on climate-glacier-hydrologic dynamics over different time scales, emphasizing processes of climate change, glaciers and water in mountain regions. We do field work in glaciated landscapes of the American Cordillera, particularly the Peruvian Andes and Great Basin of Nevada, as well the Hindu Kush Himalaya and Africa. We collaborate internationally and use field, lab and computer-based methods from multiple disciplines including paleoclimatology, glacial geology, geomorphology, hydrology, and biogeochemistry. I am also interested in local climate and assist with delivering climate services as part of the State Climate Office of Ohio.
