The research of Bill Ausich is focused on three areas: 1- the evolutionary dynamics of Paleozoic crinoid faunas through major episodes climate and biosphere change, 2- the phylogeny and classification of Paleozoic crinoids, and 3- paleocommunity dynamics through the Phanerozoic. Graduate and undergraduate students work in these and related areas of research. Funding for this research is largely from the National Science Foundation. He has won several awards and honors, publishes regularly in leading peer-reviewed journal, and has five books and monographs.
