Study abroad Japan: Geology & Human Health

Students at Hiroshima Peace Memorial

Last May, Ohio State students from Earth Sciences and Public Health traveled to Japan as part of a unique interdisciplinary study abroad opportunity led by Professor Motomu Ibaraki. The interdisciplinary program, "Field Experience in Global Public Health: Japan," is offered yearly and helps students apply principles in geology and human health while learning about Japanese culture. Students observe the impacts of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, witness the impact of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and study mercury pollution in Minamata. The deadline to apply for next year's program is Jan. 3, 2019.
