Where has your degree taken you?
Since I back to my country I was appointed as Head of Geodetic Section, a job that has allowed me to participate in geodetic field work and fully explore my country several times, getting geodetic data from the field, whether GPS positioning, leveling or gravity data and subsequent calculation in the office. The opportunity to work and explore the country at the same time is something that is priceless.
How do you feel your experience, specifically as an SES/geology student at OSU, prepared you for your career or life in general?
OSU gave me solid technical skills to be appointed as National Representative of Chile in the SIRGAS (Geocentric Reference System for the Americas) program, were I have the responsibility of leading the team of the SIRGAS Center for Data Processing (IGM-CL), which has allowed me to be part of a great team, working on a project that is the backbone support for all projects based on the creation and use of geo referenced data at both national and international levels.
What is your favorite memory as a student?
One of my favorite memories from my time at OSU were the sound of the Orton Tower bells when I’was studying at my office or walking along the Oval. Or the incredible football game and performance of TBDBITL at the Shoe, I’ll never forget my life as a Buckeye, Once a Buckeye Always a Buckeye!
What advice do you have for current and future students?
Mainly, make the most of the elite teachers who work at the School of Earth Sciences, they are so enthusiastic to deliver their knowledge and experience.
