Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

8898 Seminar Colloquium in the Earth Sciences

Speaker: Dr. Lihini Aluwihare, Professor, UC San Diego

Seminar Title: Peering through New Analytical Windows at an Old Problem: Marine Dissolved Organic Matter Composition and Cycling.

The 600 Gt C marine dissolved organic matter (DOM) reservoir facilitates ecosystem interactions, nutrient regeneration, and carbon and nutrient sequestration. As new analytical methods come on-line, we learn more about the identities of the molecules that facilitate each of these processes. In this talk I will describe some of the different analytical approaches we are taking to elucidate the organic currencies involved in maintaining ecosystem interactions and modulating global carbon cycling.

Host: Dr. Christena Cox
