New textbook written by Professor Jun-Yi Guo

A new textbook entitled Physical Geodesy: Global Elastic Deformation of the Earth, authored by Prof. Jun-Yi Guo is currently in press with Springer. 

Its contents belong to the background physics of contemporary geodesy besides the static gravity field. The latter was traditionally the subject of books of physical geodesy, and was covered in Professor Guo’s earlier textbook, Physical Geodesy: A Theoretical Introduction, published with Springer in 2023:

These two books together provide the fundamental theories of physics of the Earth essential for establishing present-day precise geodetic reference systems for representing geospatial locations, namely, the geometric reference system for their coordinates and the vertical reference system for their heights.
