Michael Durand led up a Commentary published in AGU Advances (https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2021AV000455) that summarizes a panel discussion he chaired at AGU Fall Meeting in 2019. Observations from satellites are transforming hydrologic science.
Strategies are presented for maximizing the benefits of remote sensing for hydrology, encouraging research across disciplines using multiple sensors, using new commercially available satellites, and combining remote sensing measurements with hydrologic models. The paper was recently featured as an Editor’s highlight in Eos (https://eos.org/editor-highlights/transforming-hydrology-by-integrating-sensors-and-disciplines).
