Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

"Ohio State gave me a well-rounded experience in the earth sciences that made it so I would be qualified for a wide range of job opportunities. It also helped to show me what I wanted to do after school and led me to my current job position."

Where has your degree taken you?

Right after graduation I moved to Texas and was a mudlogger for about a year and a half. After that I came back to Columbus and started working at the Ohio EPA.

How do you feel your experience, specifically as an SES/geology student at OSU, prepared you for your career or life in general?

Ohio State gave me a well-rounded experience in the earth sciences that made it so I would be qualified for a wide range of job opportunities. It also helped to show me what I wanted to do after school and led me to my current job position.

What is your favorite memory as a student?

Finding a dinosaur bone at field camp.

What advice do you have for current and future students?

Take your time, you don’t need to feel like you need to rush out of school and into the workforce. And take more electives!
