Multiscale interactions of tropical convection in the Indian Ocean Two high-impact weather phenomena form regularly in the Indian Ocean: tropical cyclones (TCs), and the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO). Our research examines how convection evolves within the MJO during its passage, and how the presence of TCs in the basin may influence that evolution. 8898 Seminar Colloquium in the Earth Sciences

Speaker: Professor Deanna Hence, Department of Atmospheric Sciences, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Seminar Title: Can you feel me? Multiscale interactions of tropical convection in the Indian Ocean

Two high-impact weather phenomena form regularly in the Indian Ocean: tropical cyclones (TCs), and the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO). Our research examines how convection evolves within the MJO during its passage, and how the presence of TCs in the basin may influence that evolution.
